What services does Birger Juell, Ltd. provide? Birger Juell, Ltd. is a full service flooring manufacturer and contractor, providing complete planning and design services. We work with architects, contractors, designers and homeowners. We provide expert installation and maintenance services to complete your project. If we install the floors, with an annual maintenance inspection and waxing, we will guarantee the floors for the lifetime of our company. The first step in creating your floors is a personal consultation to discuss your ideas. Working closely with you, we will recommend and design floors to meet your objectives. How are Juell floors created? We specialize in hand finished floors that draw on centuries-old traditions of European craftsmen. Juell floors are unique — no two are alike. They are personally designed and created for each customer. Using a wide range of wood species and patterns, we offer an endless combination from which to create beautiful, enduring additions to homes and offices. We supervise both the cutting of the logs to assure the correct grain pattern and the drying of the wood to insure a stable, check-free floor. Many of our floors are hand cut, hand scraped and hand beveled in our workshop. Unless otherwise specified, Juell floors are 3/4" thick, kiln-dried, tongue and grooved, end matched, under scored and under sealed. Using the same process that French cabinet makers employ to produce their extraordinary furniture, we acid etch the wood to give a beautiful depth and patina. We then oil stain — all by hand — to meet your color specifications. Finally, we burnish in two additional coats of oil and then wax and polish the wood to a soft luster.
Does Birger Juell, Ltd. work on other projects besides floors? While our main product is floors, we have designed and produced custom products ranging from beams and tables to ceilings and walls. If you have an idea for a wood project other than floors, we will be happy to discuss it with you.
Can Birger Juell, Ltd. give me installation instructions for my floor? Yes, we will provide installation instructions for products purchased from Birger Juell, Ltd. We do not provide installation instructions for flooring products purchased from other companies.
Can I install the floor myself? Yes, but Juell floors must be installed to Juell specifications and should be installed by experienced, knowledgeable craftsmen. We cannot guarantee the installation or finish of floors installed by outside parties.
What colors can my floor be stained? We match or create custom colors to complement your room, your interior design, or, if you wish, the color of your eyes. Unlike most other floors, Juell floors are acid etched and oil stained — all by hand — to meet your color specifications. We then burnish in two additional coats of oil, after which we wax and polish the wood to give it a beautiful, soft luster. This process ensures color durability and a finish that will provide years of service. Also, because Juell floors are finished in our wood shop, there is minimal dust on the job site.
Are Juell floors guaranteed? With an annual maintenance inspection and waxing service, we guarantee the wood, the installation and the finish for the lifetime of our company. We do not warranty surface finishes or installations performed by outside parties.
How are Juell floors priced? Because of the highly customized nature of our floors, it is necessary to have a personal consultation with us before we can determine prices. During your consultation, we will discuss ideas for your floors — design, species, cut and grade of wood, preparation, installation and other factors that influence the total price. Juell prices reflect the extraordinary time, expertise and quality that go into every floor.
